Summary
Folding darkroom safe light manufactured in England for Kodak Australasia Ltd. The particular example was mostly made of fabric which could be folded down flat, and it used candle-light for illumination.
One side of the fabric in this safe-light shows evidence of a scorch from the candle while it was in use.
This object is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
Physical Description
Square metal base with burnt down candle in holder. Folding metal frame with four red fabric panels. One side of the fabric shows a burn mark. Both parts of the light are housed in original packaging.
