Photograph of the Murchie family taken in Scotland around the time Isabella Murchie migrated with her family to Australia in 1919. Isabella was born in Scotland on 24 November 1890. The photograph features, front row (left to right): Isabella Reilly Murchie, Gavin Lanson Murchie Snr, Isabella McGregor Murchie, Isabella McGregor Reilly, Gavin Lawson Murchie: back row (left to right): Marion Forrest Richie, John Valdemar Murchie, Thomas William Murchie and Jane Stewart Ireland.
Isabella (aged 30) migrated on the ship Orsova to Hobart, arriving first in Melbourne on 12 May 1920. She travelled with her father Gavin Lawson Murchie (aged 61), mother Isabella McGregor Reilly (aged 70) and her brothers John Valdemar Murchie (aged 31) and his wife Marion Forrest Ritchie (aged 30), and Thomas William Murchie (aged 27) and his wife Jane Stuart Ireland (aged 29) and their children Gavin (aged 8) and Isabella (aged 6). The donor is a descendant of Thomas and Jane.
They arrived in Hobart soon after, living with other family members until they relocated to Melbourne in 1921, living in Malvern. The different family groups lived in Brighton, Maryborough and Sydney. Isabella (owner of the passport) married Frank Capuano in 1923 and settled at 159 Bay Street Brighton.
