Summary
This didgeridu is coated with red ochre and has bands of white pigment at either end and white stripes are painted elsewhere.
Local Name
yidaki
Physical Description
A didjeridu made of a length of wood hollowed out in the centre and painted with natural pigments. The rest of the surface is incised with designs.
Significance
Few yidaki are known to have been made by Dawidi and this one is also unusual in that the design is incised into the surface. This was not a technique employed much by artists at Milingimbi, more commonly associated with Yirrkala further east in Arnhem Land.
