Summary
Altar cloth embroidered by Adorizio Faella, an Italian prisoner of war and given to Angelina Zarro as a expression of thanks for her family's support, in 1946. Angelina had followed her husband Antonio from Italy soon after he migrated to Melbourne in 1924.
Physical Description
Hand embroidered linen cloth with picture of a chalice in gold, red and green thread, birds in white thread and incription in red.
Significance
This collection represents the important theme of internment and restriction of 'enemy aliens' and POWs during World War II, and complements other material in the Museum's collection relating to German and Italian internment.
