Summary
This hafted stone axe is painted with natural pigments. The head held in place with resin and the wooden handle is bent around the head and secured at the head with an interlaced band and at the end with vegetable fibre.

Physical Description
A ground edge axe with split wood handle. Axe head is hafted to handle with beeswax. Wax binds the handle at two points. Hafting wax and adjacent portion of handle are decorated with red, yellow and black dots. Handle coated with red and brown ochre. MATERIAL: wood; stone; sinew; beeswax. TECHNIQUE: carved; pecked; polished; painted; hafted.
