Summary
One of a series of photographs taken by Museums Victoria staff member Lorenzo Iozzi as part of a project to document the experiences of Victorians during the COVID-19 pandemic. This series documents the impact of the closure of entertainment venues including cinema, theatres and art galleries as part of the COVID-19 lockdown.
This image shows large posters out front of the Palais Theatre in St. Kilda, closed due to the COVID-19 Lockdown. The poster on the left has the message, "Rock 'n' Roll might not solve your problems, but it does let you dance all over them", a quote by Pete Townsend of the rock band, the Who. The poster on the right has, "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life", a quote by the poet and author Berthold Auerbach The subtext below each is a reference to the Lockdown, "We can't wait to see you back at the Palais Theatre, Keep Well".
