Summary

Domestic table top 'Singer' sewing machine with knee operated starting lever on front right hand side. Made by The Singer Manufacturing Co., in 1949 and used in Melbourne from1950-1965. It belonged to Mrs Gwen Acton, Prue Acton's mother. She gave it to Prue when she was aged about 10 years.

Model number EF711993: the Singer EF series, register numbers 164676 to 194675, were made in 1949.

Physical Description

Domestic table top 'Singer' sewing machine with knee operated starting lever on front right hand side. The machine is black metal on a wooden base. A home made cotton pin cushion with pins is wrapped around the centre top of the machine. The bobbin is threaded with black cotton. A flex cord has a three point plug for attachment to electricity supply. .2 Wooden 'U'shaped 'Singer' sewing machine lid with metal handle, locking device and clip on the inside. .3 Hook-shaped black metal knee operated starter lever for 'Singer' sewing machine.
