Summary

This jacket was designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Prue Acton P/L in 1980.

A similar garment was part of the costumes worn by American actress Barbara Parkins in the Australian film ' Breakfast in Paris', released in 1981. Parkins, who played the leading female role, loved the clothes and asked to keep them for herself to "show off around the world".

Physical Description

Long-sleeved fitted jacket in gold lame fabric backed with bronze silk. Detachable collar consists of two large layers of reversed fabrics with irregularly scalloped edges, printed with an olive/brown rose pattern. Cuffs and front opening are fastened with many buttons and button loops covered in lame. Small shoulder pads in the shoulders. Jacket is lined in brown silk. (Two steel pins removed, one holding front of collar down flat,one in shoulder pad)
