One of a series of photographs taken by Museums Victoria staff member Lorenzo Iozzi as part of a project to document the experiences of Victorians during the COVID-19 pandemic. This series documents the impact of the closure of entertainment venues including cinema, theatres and art galleries as part of the Covid Lockdown.
This image shows a large poster out front of the Palais Theatre in St. Kilda, closed due to the COVID-19 Lockdown, with the message, "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life", a quote by the poet and author Berthold Auerbach. The subtext is a reference to the Covid-19 Lockdown, "We can't wait to see you back at the Palais Theatre, Keep Well".
