Summary
Ceramic Firing container used by artist Martha Ash, circa 1996. Martha Ash was born in Poland in 1920 and lost all her family in the Holocaust. She came to Australia in 1949 where she studied ceramics, sculpture silver smithing, enamelling and glass mosaic. This container was used to house items being fired in a kiln. It may have produced special effects. Martha Ash died in September 1996.
Physical Description
Terracotta container used in firing process. Container is roughly made with long open neck on one side to enable a rod to be inserted and container drawn out of the kiln. Holes have been cut out on all sides of container to permit even flow of heat around the items inside.
