Summary
This skirt was designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Prue Acton P/L in 1971. According to the donor, the'Berber' range was very popular in the early 1970s. It followed the Australian Wool Corporation's launch of 'Berber' type carpets, blankets, furnishings and upholstery fabrics. 'Berber' name was taken from the tribemen of North Africa and their use of natural coloured wool. The range won the 1971 Australian Wool Board award for 'Outstanding Women's Wear - Wool'.
Prue was photographed wearing the skirt in an article `At 31, Prue Acton heads a Multi-National Company', in Woman's Day magazine, dated 2nd August, 1976.
Physical Description
Midi-lenght, A-line woollen skirt from "Berber" range. Skirt of cream, brown and beige fringed patches in palin and striped weave. The lining is of beige, grey polyester.
