This dress was designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Prue Acton P/L in 1988. Part of range inspired by Prue Acton's 1988 Melbourne Cup outfit 'Scrunch and Drape', using gabric to create form and texture.
According to the donor, this example was a sample from Prue Acton Pty Ltd ready-to-wear range, selling at $300-$500 retail. Known as style No. 3625, it was a huge seller during Summer 1988-89.
Physical Description
Brown knee length fitted evening dress with ruffled off-the shoulder neckline. Dress has short puffed sleeves ending in double ruffle. The waistline is 'V' shaped. The front has double pin tucks on either side of centre. Dress is fastened by zip at back from neckline to lower back. The skirt is split at the centre back hem. Black cotton hanging tapes are attached inside armholes.
