Wooden sculpture made by a patient at Mayday Hills, a mental health hospital in Beechworth, Victoria, circa 1965. It is an example of the artworks made as part of occupational therapy programs at mental health hospitals in Victoria.
Physical Description
Decorative table with rustic base of varnished tree branches forming a central column base and four legs attached or branching from u.c. Table top is shaped with two rounded forms extending from each corner. Border of table top is painted red, and a circular grid extends from centre, each segment containing inscriptions. A circle containing inscriptions in script is drawn at each corner and the remaining space is filled with gridded inscriptions. Two pieces in centre open out to reveal a cavity with four compartments. Window sash cords are included in the construction at sides.
