Scotch Pipers at the Children's Fete, Duke of York Celebrations, Sydney. In the foreground, a group of seven boys in highland dress are playing the bagpipes whilst marching. Immediately behind them follow a small group of men in naval uniform, with a contingent of uniformed military behind. A large crowd of spectators is visible in the background. The marching is taking place on an oval decorated with flags. These celebrations were part of the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall & York to Australia for the opening of the first Federal Parliament on 9 May 1901.
