Small metal badge featuring an allegorical female figure of Liberty. It is inscribed 'For France', 'Tasmania', '1918'.
Made by prolific medal-maker Alfred E. Stokes in Sydney. The badge was apparently sold in Tasmania in 1918, during World War I, in support of the people of France.
Physical Description
Small metal badge, coloured in red, white, blue and gold. The words are printed in white around the edge of the badge, and in the centre is the allegorical female figure of Liberty, surrounded by six symbols, probably fleur de lis. On the back of the badge is stuck a paper label printed in white on blue, indicating the name of the manufacturer, Stokes of Sydney. The badge has a metal fastener and a gold edge.
