Painted fabric banner, produced to commemorate the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York to Australia in May 1901 for the opening of the first federal parliament of Australia.
The opening took place in the (Royal) Exhibition Building on 9 May, 1901.
Physical Description
The large banner has a portrait of the Duke and the Duchess, with flags, a view of a ship (probably the H.M.S. Ophir), laurel wreaths, and a clumsily drawn Australian coat of arms.
