Black-out curtain, used during World War II to prevent light showing outside a home, to limit light showing to any enemy aircraft on bombing raids. The curtain was donated with material associated with Miss Adele Joseph, who lived in England circa 1919-1945. The curtain may threfore have been used in war-time England.

Physical Description

Black polished curtain with 12 brass rings attached at top reverse side. It is comprised of two segments, hand sewn together. Lower section is doubled over, and consequently thicker, and the upper section has a turned hem.
