Summary
Newsletter produced on board the ship Anna Salen on 29 July 1950. While some ships produced daily newsletters, only 3 were produced on the Anna Salen during this voyage and they were not multiple copied for general distribution as other ship newsletters were. Shipboard newsletters provided a lasting record of the journey, and were a way for passengers and crew to communicate, to broadcast events and activities, to unite the immigration experience amongst the passengers and often to record passengers and their cultural backgrounds.
Physical Description
Five foolscap size pages of illustrated shipboard newsletter. Featured are articles by the Escort and Australian Education Officers, tables of nationalities, religions and ages of migrants as well as grouping of languages.

Text: ANNA'S/MIRROR/I thank all Passengers for their best wishes at the occasion/of my birthday. I feel obliged to state that this trip was the/ best, since I took this ship to Australia. This depends to a great extent on the passengers. The people on this trip were/better than on other journeys. We also had less patients. I hope the pas-/sengers were content with the trip and with the crew. [Extensive text].
