Summary

Parchment naturalization certificate for Ernest Adolphus Lampe, issued in 1856. At the time this certificate was issued Lampe was living at Ballarat as a goldminer. Lampe was an accountant who migrated form Danzig, Germany in 1852 due to the new mining and business oppurtunities available in Victoria during the gold rush. He was followed out by his wife and three children. He died in 1869 aged around 45.

Physical Description

Certificate made of heavy parchment. It is dated and given under seal on 29th September,1856 by the Governor, Edward Macarthur, Major General. It was entered on record in the Register of Patents "No.3, page 56, on 29th September, 1856" by J. Moore, Under Secretary for the Chief Secretary and Registrar. The reverse side records that the Certificate was entered in the Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Colony of Victoria, Book C. Folio 12, on 14th November, 1856 and is signed by the Registrar, whose name is illegible. A certification by one of the Justices of the Supreme Court, Robert Molesworth, dated 14th November, 1856, is also recorded.
