Issue number 71 of the Good Neighbour, published by the Department of Immigration in December 1959. The Good Neighbour was a monthly bulletin published by the Department of Immigration to assist migrants. The Good Neighbour Movement was an organisation of interested community members who undertook to assist migrants, particularly non-English speaking migrants, to settle into the Australian community. It was part of the Federal Government's policy of assimilation during the 1950s and 1960s. The Good Neighbour Movement embraced Good Neighbour Councils all over Australia. Although the people involved were volunteers, the Movement and the state secretaries were funded by Federal Parliament.
