Summary
Passenger Contract Ticket issued by the Chandris Lines to Dennis Jeandet. Dennis arrived in Australia from Rotterdam in 1969 at the age of 21. Upon arrival in Australia Dennis was sent to the Bonegilla migrant camp. Following World War II many Dutch people were facing economic and social devastation, as a result of the German occupation, Allied bombing of Europe and loss of family and friends. In 1951 the Dutch and Australian governments signed the Netherlands Australia Migration Agreement (NAMA) which facilitated the immigration of Dutch people to Australia, including those residing in the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia). However by the 1960s the number of Dutch immigrants to Australia had begun to decline.
