Blue and white floral printed crimped silk chiffon dress. High boat neckline, set in flounce sleeves. Used circa 1920. Belonged to Minnie Anderson, 'Mynda'. Molesworth Street, Kew. Probably worn with SH 88.899: pink silk petticoat.

Mary 'Minnie' Lloyd Anderson was one of five children of renowned architect Lloyd Tayler (1830-1900) and Sarah Toller. She married James Caldwell Anderson; they had a son and three daughters. The family lived at 'Mynda', 5 Molesworth Street, Kew, designed by Lloyd Tayler. She died in 1951, aged 91.

Physical Description

Blue and white floral printed crimped silk chiffon dress. High boat neckline finished with self fabric bias tape. Two shoulder pintucks on bodice front. Set in flounce sleeves finished with picot edge. Sleeve and bodice seam allowance is trimmed back and finished with overcast stitch. Self loops at semi-fitted waist hold soft draped belt which has grey blue art deco clip closure. Six gore skirt with four set in godets. Back central gore has frills with picot edge running the length of seam to hem. Skirt hem is finished with picot edge. Inside seams are trimmed and finished with an overcast stitch.
