Physical Description
Muted-pink, drop-waisted, calf length dress has front panel of finely pleated chiffon fron neckline to waist. Panel flanked by false jacket joined to bodice, which has cap sleeves and is of machine lace- cream on rose-coloured net ground. Front 'neckline' of lace is edged with sequins. Cap sleeves sewn over long sleeve of rose silk with ruched chiffon trim around armhole & chiffon piping on shoulder. Neckline is round with a V-shaped slit in front, partially edged with chiffon piping. Skirt & back of bodice are of machine lace over silk and pleated panel of chiffon (centre front) shows beneath scalloped edge of lace at hem. Dress machine- & handsewn, possibly made from another garment. Machine is very regular, the work by hand irregular, and it appears that many alterations were made to garment by hand.
