Summary
Knitted tea cosy made by Mrs Violet May Wilson of Beaconsfield, circa1933, as part of a large number of pieces craft she made and exhibited in local agricultural shows throughout Australia.
The tea cosy was exhibited in numerous agricultural shows in all states between 1933 and 1974 and won a total of 143 first prizes and 17 second prizes.
Physical Description
Knitted tea cosy. Brown wool with green silky material lining. Brown nylon ribbon and bow on top. One side of cosy is decorated with tree and woodpecker, kingfisher and robin. The other side is decorated with unknown black and yellow bird sitting on a branch. Sides are stitched from half-way down to allow for handle and spout of tea pot. The knitting work is of very fine quality.
