Summary
Covering letter from P&O Lines to the Booth Family sent 1956 regarding the supply of their travel documentation, tickets, baggage labels etc, for their voyage on the RMS Strathaird. The Booth family, Ronald, Joan and their two children Ronald and Martin, migrated to Australia in 1956 under the assisted passage scheme. They left London on 18 May aboard the Strathaird and arrived in Australia in June. When they arrived in Melbourne they were taken to the migrant centre at the Royal Exhibition Building for processing and were then sent to the Brooklyn Hostel. They found Australia to be very different to how it was described in all the promotional literature they had been given in England, however they were made to feel very welcome.
