Summary
Made: Edith Harrington, circa - 1972
Used: circa 1972
Embroidered as occupational therapy by Edith Harrington, a patient at Mayday Hills Hospital, Beechworth. She is believed to have died in 1972.
Physical Description
Red woollen jumper in fine wool, probably commercially made. The jumper has been embroidered with wool and cotton thread around the neckline, including at the back of the neck, along shoulder seams, on the sleeves, on the sleeve cuffs and at the edge of the bottom of the jumper, and on the front. The embroidery is placed symetrically on the jumper; it is closely done, with matching threads where appropriate. The work is complex, detailed and crowded; the general effect is pleasing. The jumper has a V-shaped neck, with a high back.
