Summary
Leather locked gloves used in mental health hospitals in Victoria Australia circa 1900. They were used on patients to prevent self harm or masturbation which at one stage was considered a possible cause of insanity.
Physical Description
Pair of black, leather, locked gloves. Leather sewn into a bat-like shape, two slits for brown strap to slip through to secure patient's wrists.
