Summary

Infant or young child's pinafore of white cotton with broderie anglaise detail. Belonged to Betty Anderson, of 'Mynda', Molesworth Street, Kew.

Betty (Elizabeth) was the daughter of James Caldwell Anderson and Mary Lloyd Anderson, and grand-daughter of renowned architect Lloyd Tayler. Born in 1889, Betty was one of four sibilings, all of whom she outlived. The family lived at 'Mynda', 5 Molesworth Street, Kew, Melbourne. A photograph of the family around 1900 is held by Museum Victoria: MM 132379. One of the children in the photograph wears a similar pinafore.

Betty never married, and lived to the age of 92, passing away in 1982.

Physical Description

Infant or young child's pinafore of white cotton with broderie anglaise inserted panels and broderie anglaise trim on hem. Pinafore is then edged with bobbin lace. Pinafore has single shell button at back and cotton tape ties at front sides.
