Summary
This handkerchief, which could also be worn as a head scarf, was produced as a souvenir to commemorate the opening of the Victorian and Melbourne Centenary exhibition by HRH The Duke of Gloucester on 13 October 1934.
The scarf was given to the donor by her brother in 1934.
Physical Description
This handkerchief is square in shape. It is made of very fine cloth and is only printed on one side (print is seen on other side, however.) Parallel to the four sides of the handkerchief are four lots of blue lines (in groups of ten). In the centre is a black and white portrait of the Duke of Gloucester; to the left and right of him are two lots of flora (possibly wattle). Below them are two outlines of kangaroos; in between a logo of a crown and four stars. Words have been printed above and below the portrait.
