Summary
Ribbon work embroidery sample, made by Violet Waddell, later Morgan, when she was about 22 years old. She was taught to make ribbon embroidery by a workmate. The sample was possibly intended to be a circular cushion cover.
Originally recorded as being made in the 1910s, it would have been made two decade later, since Violet was born in 1912. The embroidery is likely to have been made about 1934.
Physical Description
Unfinished circular piece of blue satin material worked with ribbon and cotton embroidery pattern of pink five petalled flowers with green leaves and stems. Flower petals in pink ribbon, padded out with woollen yarn. Triangles of blue material have been machine sewn together.
