Summary
Set of three embroidered side mats, part of the dowry of Irene Soumilas. Irene migrated to Australia from the Greek Island of Lefkas in 1958 to be married in 1959. Her dowry travelled in two trunks by ship, although she travelled by air. Many of her dowry items were made by local craftswomen, although other items were given to her by family and friends still living in Greece.
Physical Description
Set of three square side mats one large and two small. Each mat has a design embroidered on it using gold thread.
