Summary

Ceremonial Collar made by David Jones & Co. Regalia Makers, Sydney. Used by Irish National Foresters. The Irish National Foresters is a mutual aid society, established in 1877 to help members in distress and the relatives of members who have died. Although it spread throughout the world the Irish National Foresters retained close-links with Ireland and was a strong supporter of Irish nationalism.

Physical Description

Dark emerald green collar in the shape of a horseshoe joined across the front by a chain. A gold band of ribbon approximately 1cm wide borders the edges. Gold cord tassels line the outside edge. A hand stitched waratah flower emblem features at both ends of the collar. There is an embroidered harp and a three leafed clover as well as text on either side. All inscriptions are of a gold thread/cord.
