Summary
Cream top made in Italy. Used during the Bicentennial Naval Salute in 1988, in which Italy took part with the Italian battleship ship Caio Duilio. In 1988, the ship visited: Darwin 8-12 September; Brisbane 18-23 September; Sydney 26 September-4 October; Melbourne 12-17 October; Adelaide 19 - 24 October; Fremantle 29 October-2 November. The Italian community was invited to functions organised on board the ship. In Melbourne, a Cadets Ball was organised at the MCG by the Italian Consul General, Dr Diego Longhi and Mrs Emma Longhi. The Italian President of the Republic, Francesco Cossiga, was also invited to participate in the Bicentennial celebrations. After the official celebrations in Canberra, Cossiga visited the capital cities.
Physical Description
Cream jumper with green collar. On the front of the jumper there is red text and a black outline of Australia with a picture of a ship printed in grey. The cuffs and waist are elasticised. On the left sleeve there is a printed patch with the Italian flag (green, white red).
