Flesh coloured girdle with embroidered flowers in same colour, made circa 1945-1965.
Collected from Steinberg's Drapery, 140-142 Elgin Street, Carlton, in January 1989.

Physical Description

Flesh coloured girdle with embroidered flowers in same colour. Girdle has a thick elasticised band at the waist, two separate elastic panels on either side of the front opening and a smaller one at the back. Garment is fastened at front by means of row of loop-shaped fasteners and then, over that with laces, as evidenced by the hooks and holes. Girdle is heavily boned with reinforcement at intervals of approx. 6cms across entire width. There are suspenders for attaching stockings.
