Summary
Leather suitcase brought to Australia by David Francoli's father Gabriel when he migrated from Northern Italy circa 1924. The good quality leather of the luggage suggests that Gabriel was quite comfortable financially when he migrated to Australia.
Gabriel settled in Gembrooke, Victoria, and was a prominent figure in the development of the sawmilling industry in this area. Unlike most Italians, Germans and Japanese residents he was not interned during the war because timber work was considered a valuable contribution to the war effort.
Physical Description
Brown leather suitcase.
