Summary
Small black tin trunk which was used by Captain J. K. Davis to store records relating to his Antarctic Expeditions on the Nimrod, Aurora and Discovery. It may also have been taken on voyages by Davis. Davis was an English-born Australian explorer and navigator notable for his work captaining exploration ships in Antarctic waters and for establishing meteorological stations on Macquarie Island and on Willis Island.
Physical Description
Small black painted tin trunk, of Deed Box shape and style. Well fitting lid and handle on each end for carrying and small lock at front. Trunk empty. Painted dark blue inside. Trunk is dented and scratched through use.
