Summary

Aqua coloured Pinnock 'Compact' vacuum cleaner, with parts in box marked 'Pinnock Premier'. It was said to have been one of 100 specially made in honor of the Australian Olympic Games in 1956, although the model was advertised in 1963 as 'an entirely new principle - Cyclonic Action...the most versatile cleaning system ever - a vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, and floor scrubber in one... The Compact stacks dirt at a 45 angle - away from the motor, so that it cannot obstruct the airflow. The Pinnock Compact is packed with revolutionary features that other machines will be copying in five or ten years' time. Why wait?' (Australian Women's Weekly, 10 April 1963).

The donor acquired it from the Science Museum in 1976; it had been used as an industrial cleaner in the Museum. The donor used it in a holiday house.
