Summary

Letter from Nesbitt Cockburn to Christina Panton dated 7 December 1865. Christina Panton was the daughter of Christiana Douglas and Robert Panton. In 1851-1852 the Panton family made arrangements through the British Colonial Land and Emigration Office to emigrate to Port Phillip. The family was struck by tragedy shortly after arriving, Christina and two of their young children died within three months.

Nesbitt is responding to a note of Christina's in the absence of her sister who has gone to Melbourne. She states she has enclosed a letter which was sent to the station for Christina and notes that a gentleman called to see her and was disappointed when Nesbitt could not provide any information of Christina's whereabouts. She concludes by hoping Christina, her father and brother are well.
