Summary
Made by Morson, Thomas & Son Ltd., circa 1920. Used in the pharmacy of a Victorian mental health hospital. Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) was at times used for removing warts.
Approximate volume of container; 500mL, bottle is full of white crystalline powder.
Physical Description
Clear, glass medicine jar with red label on side - Thomas Morson & Son Ltd., Sodium Hydroxide. Still sealed with decorative lead cover which covers stopper and broad, thick neck. Jar has round, concave base, straight sides, rounded shoulder sloping briefly to lead-covered top. Contains white, candle-like sticks of sodium hydroxide.
