Summary
Letter spike made by a patient in a psychiatric hospital in Victoria Australia, circa 1850. It was probably used in the wards or offices to organize paperwork.
Physical Description
Hand made letter spike with a heavy lead base that is uneven and circular in shape. Above a thick edge that is grooved and chipped in places there is a curved sloping step to a small circular plateau. A pointed spike (which is slightly bent) protrudes out from a hole in the centre.
