Inkstand used by the Medical Superintendent of Kew Lunatic Asylum, Victoria, Australia, circa 1900.
Physical Description
Inkstand is oblong glass plate with round-sided channel across front for pen. Behind channel, flat on glass, are 2 metal frames each with small peg on each side to hold in place 2 cut-glass cube ink wells. They have round plated brass rims and hinged lids. At back is rack for letters and pens, shaped like toast rack with 3 double arches, each slightly higher and wider than one in front. Front arch has 2 shallow hooks with tiny balls on ends, on each side (to support 2 pens)
