Summary
Apothecary jar with label for boric acid, made: circa 1848 - 1950. The jar is empty. Used in the pharmacy of a psychiatric hospital in Victoria, prior to 1950. Boric acid solution is a weak bactericide and was used in mouth washes, eye lotions, skin lotions.
Physical Description
Large, clear glass apothecary's jar with round, slightly concave base, straight sides, hemispherical shoulder, thin, shortish neck and green glass stopper (probably not original). Has paper label for boric acid solution glued on side.
