Green-tinged apothecary jar containing ferritin (iron) supplement which was used in a pharmacy of a mental health hospital in Victoria, Australia, circa 1900.
Physical Description
Apothecary's jar of thick green-tinged glass with round, concave base and straight sides sloping outward to hemispherical shoulder with broad, shortish neck with protruding rim. Stopper or cork missing. Has curved yellow paper printed label on each side (smaller on back) for iron and ammonium citrate mixture which is taken internally for its restorative action.
Significance
Example of pharmaceuticals dispensed at Victorian mental health hospitals, circa 1900.
