Overshoe - Tan Leather, circa 1940. Leather over-shoe of tan leather, lightly speckled with black. Used in psychiatric hospital in Victoria Australia prior to 1950. The overshoes were worn by patients in wet weather, to protect their regular issue canvas shoes.
Physical Description
Leather over-shoe of tan leather, lightly speckled with black. Shaped like a boot without a sole, with the top part hugging the ankle and done up by a single strap and buckle. The lower part spreads out stiffly to keep the rain off the shoes worn underneath.
