Letter from Will E. Chapman to the Hon. James G. Francis M.P., Chairman of Exhibition Building regarding an application for the use of the Exhibition Building on the evenings of the 24, 25 and 26 of December 1881; for the purpose of giving three grand concerts with the best available talent in the colonies and a large choir.

This letter tells a story of the optimism and wealth Melbourne was experiencing as the centre of cultural life in Victoria during the 1880s and the role played by the Exhibition Building as part of that.

Yellowed and fragile letter written on 17-11-1881 by the Hon. Will. E. Chapman to the Chairman of the Trustees of the Exhibition Building for the purpose of giving three grand concerts 24-26 December 1883. Reverse has note by J.G.F: Forwarded to Hon. J. McBain for acknowledgement 18/11/81.
