Summary

Group of draughts pieces which forms part of the Australian Children's Folklore Collection (ACFC).
The ACFC is unique in Australia, documenting contemporary children's folklore across Australia and in other countries reaching back to the 1870s. The Collection has a strong component of research material relating to Victoria.
This object was part of a group of items, originally from the National Trust of Australia, which arrived at the Museum with the ACFC.

Board games are a significant form of recreation and amusement for both children and adults in many cultures around the world. While some board games are based purely on luck and amusement, others simulate real life experiences, cultural traditions or require particular skills and knowledge.

Physical Description

Group of approximately forty flat, round game pieces coloured yellow, black or red. Some have round grooves on each face. Others bear one of two inscriptions.
