Summary
White satin dressing gown, which was part of the dowry of Irene Soumilas. Irene migrated to Australia from the Greek Island of Lefkas in 1958 to be married in 1959. Her dowry travelled in two trunks by ship, although she travelled by air. Many of her dowry items were made by local craftswomen, although other items were given to her by family and friends still living in Greece.
Physical Description
Three quarter length white satin dressing gown. The gown has half length sleeves which are folded over to reveal decorative patterning on the cuffs, this patterning is repeated on the hem and collar of the gown. There is a pocket on the right hand side of the gown just below hip hight, and a wide white satin tie around the waist to hold the gown closed.
