Summary

Publicity postcard sent as an invitation to attend a gift fair promoting the 'International Year of the Bear'. There is an offer of a free '12" Cuddle Bear' and an 'Australian Made' three dimensional pyramid-shaped mobile with every order made at the gift fair.

Jakas Soft Toys was a Melbourne-based company which designed and manufactured genuine high quality soft toys from 1956. Their designs included a range of teddy bears, golliwogs, animals and birds. Jakas Soft Toys ceased production in the late 1990s outlasting many local toy manufacturers competing with cheaper overseas imports.

Physical Description

Standard size postcard with a colour image of 'Flag Koala' and 'Flag Teddy' in the centre of the postcard on a black ground. Jakas Soft Toys is printed in the top left-hand corner and the word 'Invitation' is printed vertically down the top right-hand side of the postcard. 'International Year of the Bear' is printed at the top of the postcard. A colour image of the three dimensional pyramid-shaped 'Australian Made' mobile is shown at the bottom left-hand corner of the postcard. 'Come to the gift fair and receive free.' is printed along the bottom of the postcard. On the verso there is a watermark style illustration of a toy kangaroo and teddy bears printed in light grey on a white background. Along the top of the verso of the postcard is printed 'You are invited to:' within a dark grey boxed background at the left-hand corner, the Jakas Soft Toys logo in the centre and a rectangular box for placement of a postage stamp at the right-hand corner. A promotion for a free '12" Cuddle Bear' and an 'Australian Made' three dimensional pyramid-shaped mobile with every order is printed in the bottom left-hand corner within a light grey boxed background.
