Physical Description
Cream coloured certificate with black & gold print in a heavy cream cardboard frame. At the top a depiction of the Geelong Mechanics Institute in a circular border and decorated with leaves and scrolls. Text of certificate says that Thomas Gaunt has been awarded a certificate of merit for excellence in Philosophical Instruments. Dated Mechanics Institute, May 17, 1876 and signed by Secretary. Decorative border around certificate of 2 lines, in gold, with a pattern of leaves between them. Lithograph by George Mercer, Geelong.
