Summary
Round wooden spinning top, decorated with stripes of colour. The toys were not used personally by the donor, an immigrant from Japan, but were brought to Australia for their cultural interest.
The Australian Children's Folklore Collection is unique in Australia, documenting contemporary children's folklore across Australia and in other countries reaching back to the 1870s. The Collection has a strong component of research material relating to Victoria.
Physical Description
Round wooden top, decorated with red, green, purple and yellow rings and green and purple wavy lines. A small oval shaped wooden spindle is attached at the top, for spinning. There is a small amount of nylon thread wound around the spindle. The top has a lightly varnished finished surface.
